James von Brunn's shooting was an isolated incident. This isn't about some nut job being feed ideas from some ideologue. In the end we all are responsible for our own actions.
But, in initially defending himself, Rush just goes too far. Instead of just saying "hey, this is just a nut job", to silence those who blame him, he decides to blame the left. I remember him being up in arms about the movie Falling Down in which a right-wing nut job goes crazy and starts shooting. He's also found a way to take the farthest right group, the Nazis, and make them leftists.
Look, there are nuts on both sides: extremists on both sides. Once someone makes all the bad guys part of the other side that is the time red flags should be going up and little alarm bells should ring that say "this guy is not about truth but about spin."
Maybe he's deluded himself. I don't know. What I do know is that people (even the 25% on both sides that hold steadfastly to their side no matter what) should think and not just believe what one well spoken man says. Perhaps we can take some lessons from the Martians:
