News flash,
Obama: just spending
money is not fixing problems. There are two fatal misbeliefs in the U.S. today:
- The government can fix your problems
- Money can fix your problems
It seems Obama thinks both of these are true. I don't know that he could spend more money. He's seeing
record deficits. I get it. To some degree it's not his fault. The economic woes were there before he started. I'm not a fan of the
bailouts, but he believes they were necessary, so he threw money at it. Okay: several key financial players gave some good reasons why this would work so I could understand why he was persuaded. I can forgive that.
But now he wants to do
Universal Health Care. Again, I'm not a fan, but I'm willing to listen and see if we can maybe find common ground. But why now? If this is going to be even more money, why not wait until we've stopped
bailing everyone out?
Look, the American people are the ones who can fix their own problems. And money won't fix everything. As you said yourself, Obama, it is the way we live that is partly to blame for driving up health care costs.
Money will not fix it all, but spending all our money will certainly cause new problems. How about we take a rest on the spending and start doing something? Deal?
